Why are there different install paths?

Anthropic offers Claude across separate platforms that don't share conversation history with each other:

  • CLIClaude Code CLI, a terminal tool for developers. Sessions are stored locally on your machine.
  • CHATClaude Chat, the Desktop app and claude.ai browser (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise). Both support MCP via Connectors, with Chat, Cowork, and Code modes.

Luminaria Memo bridges them. It collects sessions from every platform into one searchable knowledge base, so Claude always has your full history, regardless of where the conversation happened.

Claude Code CLI

For developers who live in the terminal

Install the Memo plugin and sync your Claude Code sessions with one command. Search your history from the terminal or let Claude pull context from past sessions mid-coding.

Setup
$ npm install -g luminaria
$ luminaria setup

Requires Node.js v18+. Enter your API key when prompted. Done.

Best if: You use Claude Code in the terminal and want zero-friction sync.

MCP

Claude Chat

Desktop app & claude.ai browser (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise)

Connect Memo as a remote MCP server with no local install needed. Works in both the Claude Desktop app and claude.ai in the browser. Claude gets twelve tools and can search your entire conversation history, inject context from past sessions, track tasks, and annotate messages. One setup, works across Chat, Cowork, and Code modes.

Setup
  1. 1.Open Claude Desktop or claude.ai → Settings → Connectors
  2. 2.Click "Add custom connector" → enter: https://api.luminaria.so/mcp
  3. 3.You'll be redirected to sign in. Log in or create an account
  4. 4.Click "Authorize" and you're done. Tools are now available in every chat

No API key needed. OAuth handles authentication automatically. Works in Chat, Cowork, and Code modes.
